I received this story in my email today. I'm unsure of its source; however, I did hear about this on the news yesterday.

Vacations disrupted: Nasty weather keeps Carnival cruise ship from docking in Galveston
GALVESTON, Texas—For some cruise passengers, Hurricane Alex meant an extra night of vacation. But for others, it was exactly the opposite.
The Carnival Ecstasy was scheduled to arrive from a five-day cruise in Galveston Thursday morning, but rough seas and bad weather made it impossible for the ship to dock.
Carnival said it would have to stay at sea until conditions improved.
But that was especially bad news for the people waiting to board the Ecstasy Thursday afternoon for a four-day trip to Cozumel.
Carnival said that cruise will be modified to a three-day voyage, and it’s expected to depart Friday at 2 p.m.
Passengers who opt to go ahead with the shortened vacation will get a pro-rated refund for one day of their trip, a $25 onboard credit and a 25-percent discount on a future three- to five-day Carnival cruise.
Carnival said those passengers could also cancel their trips and get a cruise credit equal to what they paid for the four-day voyage.
As for the folks stuck on the boat Thursday, Carnival said they were providing free Web and telephone access so passengers could contact their families and change their flights. Carnival hoped to have them back in Galveston early Friday morning.
In a statement released Thursday afternoon, Carnival apologized for the disruption.
It was unclear how many vacationers were stuck on the boat.
